Will my HI 1746WS function in a remote rack/chassis?

The HI 1746WS, Series B or above, can work in a remote chassis with an ASB module. This would normally attach to a scanner module in the SLC500 chassis, but should also work with the scanner in the PLC5 chassis.

The HI 1746WS has a jumper in one corner to select if the module is in a local chassis (off) or a remote chassis (on). The HI 1746WS manual explains how the communications will work when in the remote chassis.

The WS 100 configuration software will work with the module in a remote chassis, however it would require some ladder logic for the communications.  An example of this logix is included in the WS 100 software manual.

NOTE: the HI WS100 configuration software does not work through the PLC5.
