Why should I use Hardy's C2 cable?

Question

Why should I use Hardy's C2 cable?

Answer

Hardy’s C2 cable is not “your father’s 3 pair, shielded cable” that can be sourced/bought from many vendors. It has 5 elevated specifications that have been designed into it, that ensure it meets and beats “potentially aggressive plant floor electrical and physical conditions”:

  • the cable has tight specs regarding its capacitance, inductance and resistance per foot that ensures accuracy and consistency between every scale build
  • the sheath to reduce the chance of deterioration over time from aggressive chemicals
  • the sheath to limit porosity and reduce moisture ingress
  • the twisted pair shields to reduce crosstalk between pairs and external EMI from external sources – you may recall I mention we are detecting weight changes at the nanovolt level (0.15uV)
  • the cable cores, they have high density multi strands to help increase flexibility and minimize resistance

The basic specs of alternative second sourced cable i.e. number of pairs, sheaths etc. may well be the same.

But all the above explained “additional spec’s” are monitored in the manufacturing process to ensure a long term, robust electrical connection between the load cell, junction-box and/or instrument.”
