Why is my PLC reading differently than my controller?

Last updated 04/06/2015 10:41 AM

Question

I have a communications problem between my controller and the PLC. The PLC weight reading is higher than the reading displayed on the front of the controller. What could be the problem?

Answer

The weight reading difference on a communications device compared to the front display may be due to the mode setting. The communications could be sending or reading the gross weight and the front display's mode could be set to display net weight.

Another possibility is you are sending in Kilograms and the display is reading in pounds. Verify the mode and LB/KG selections are correct. Under configuration, the units setting dictates the engineering units, lb or KG, sent over the communications option.
