Click Here to Learn More! There are only three reasons why the buttons would stop working on the HI 2151/30WC or HI 2110 WI keypad.
1. The keypad is disconnected or damaged.
2. The IC chip that reads the keypad operation is bad.
3. The memory of your unit is corrupted and affecting the keypad functionality.
If you find that some keys work and others do not, then check the settings on dip switch S3 that locks out certain keys. These keys are outlined in chapter four of the HI 2151/30WC manual. If only some keys do not work, always check the dip switch settings prior to looking for other possible causes.
You can determine if the memory is corrupted by turning off, then removing the SMM, then turning on your unit without the SMM installed. This will cause your unit to power up with default settings as if the memory were cleared. If the keypad still does not work, it is not a memory problem.
If your HI 2151/30WC is a wall mount version that is mounted in a stainless steel enclosure, then the back of the display board is exposed when the door of the enclosure is open. With this exposure comes the possibility of the keypad connector being pulled loose. Check to make sure the keypad is plugged into the back of the display board.
If the keypad is plugged in and the SMM is removed and none of the keys work, then there is a component failure and your unit would need to be returned for repair. Go to our online Return Authorization form at http://www.hardysolutions.com/Support/repair form or call for a return authorization number.
To determine if you have a malfunctioning keypad, press the TST/CLR button and enter the self-test program. Self-test will scroll through and at the end display KEYBD. At this point pressing each key should send a response to the display. Push the keys you think might be malfunctioning. Pressing EXIT will terminate the test, so test the EXIT key last.
