Why does my Hardy Instrument turn on and off by itself?

Last updated 01/12/2015 09:33 AM

Question

My Hardy Instrument intermittently goes through a "Power Up" cycle by itself. I have three other devices on the same circuit and they are not giving me any problems so I do not believe that it is actually a power problem. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Answer

The power connector on your Hardy Instrument could be making poor contact with the socket. Turn off power and then remove the connector. Using a needle nose pliers push the pins slightly to the left or right to improve contact. If the pins are perfectly aligned they sometimes make poor contact.

Next try turning off the power to the cable and re-strip and re-install the wires if applicable.

This could be a problem with the AC power supply internally and may need to be returned to Hardy for repair. If you need a Return Authorization please go to: Hardy Repair Request

If you have a Hardy PLC module and it is rebooting intermittently, you may have a grounding or static dicharge issue. Please see additional WebTech answers on these subjects. Search under "lockup"
