Question

Why do I only get a check quality levels of 1 or 2?

Answer

The quality response deals with the amount of stable time on the scale. The attached document explains this in more detail.

The addition of the external method of check weighing has enhanced the capabilities of the HI4050CW. The HI4050 can power and monitor the dry contact closures from a user provided photo-eye into one of the programmable inputs. The HI4050CW can now trigger on the presence of a package in several ways.

The "internal" method is an edge detection detecting stable weight within a tolerance you set.

The photo eye is the "external" method and comes in four varieties.

1T1W is a single trigger point on the leading edge of the scale. After the package passes though the photo eye, high-low, a check delay timer is set to allow the product time to settle fully on the scale. This provides time to ignore any package bounce or transition noise. At the conclusion of the first timer a second timer "check time" starts. During this timer duration weight readings are accumulated. At the end of the check time these accumulated weight reading averages are posted as the check weight. Setting the timers correctly insures the package is fully at weight prior to starting the second timer and enough time to accumulate quality weight readings. Using the [IP address]datadump.html is a built in tool to assist you in timer selection.

2T1W is the same except allows package detection a little further upstream for an empty scale auto zero, when it can. This is used for check systems where the packages arrive at various times.

2T1W uses two photo eyes. One at the leading edge and the second positioned downstream, but still triggered while the package is fully on the scale. Activating the first trigger (high-low) has the same 1T1W function and starts the check delay timer. The second photo eye (high) triggers the actual check weight capture. The weight data collection starts at the end of the check delay timer and ends when the second trigger is activated. The "check time" timer is used as a backup in case the package does not trip the second photo eye.

2T2W is the same as the 2T1W, except allows package detection a little further upstream for an empty scale auto zero, when it can. This is used for check systems where the packages arrive at various times.
