Why can't I enter the calibration menu on my HI 2110WI or HI 2151/30WC?

Question

When I try to enter the calibration menu on my HI 2110WI or HI 2151/30WC it displays "Sec CD". I toggle the external switch "Cal" and nothing happens. This problem only happens when I have the secure module memory inserted in the rear of the controller. When the memory module is removed I can enter the calibration. Apparently the controller isn't seeing the configuration of the dip switch because when I review the "self test" the Dip 1 shows "0" no matter the position of the dip switch.

Answer

With your HI 2151/20WC, HI 2151/30WC, or HI 2110WI in Gross Mode and the Cal/8 button is pressed, "SEC CD" (Security Code) should be displayed. "SEC CD" is displayed to prompt you to press "Enter" and type the Calibration Security Code (5321).  This will display if you have your SMM installed or not.  There are "Specials" that will bypass "SEC CD" and with that SMM removed, it will again ask for the "SEC CD".

When "SEC CD" is displayed, perform the following:

Press "Enter", then type "5 3 2 1", and then "Enter" again. You should now be in the Calibration Configuration Menu.

Note: DIP Switch "S3" is on the back the instrument and is marked CAL. It will only work if all the internal dip switches for "S2" (DIP 2) are in the OFF position. "S2" is the internal dip switch pack which is located on the Power/Relay circuit board and is used to set a unit as a Blind Remote. This dip switch package is small and marked on the Power/Relay circuit board with "S2 On and OFF". If your unit is the panel mount version, your instrument should not be set as a Blind Remote.

With power OFF and using standard ESD practices, check to ensure all of the internal S2 DIP switches are OFF. Now you should be able to go into Self Test and monitor the DIP 1 switches. Change the DIP positions and then re-enter Self Test to see the change.

If the DIP 1 changes are not reflected when performing the Self Test, clear the memory back to factory default and re-try. The unit may also be damaged and would need to be returned for repair.
