Question

Why can't I change the baud rate on the RIO option in my HI 3000 series controller?

Answer

In the HI 3000 series units (which include the HI 3030, HI 3010, HI 3300, and the HI 3600), the RIO baud rate is selectable from both the front keypad and the online browser.  If you are setting it from the front keypad, you would select Setup>Options>Remote I/O>Baud Rate and then press the right or left arrow key to change the rate.

From the browser, you would select Configuration>Option>Remote I/O and select the baud rate you prefer from the drop down selection.

If the unit will not allow you to change the baud rate, there are a couple of possible problems.
1.  Check to ensure the keypad arrows work in another menu selection.  If the arrow keys do not work, this would prevent you from making proper selection.
2.  If the memory in the unit is corrupted, it could effect the baud rate selection.  Clearing memory should solve this problem.  For instructions to clear the memory in the unit, refer to question .
3.  Verify you are not mapping to the baud rate.  If mapped, this would override any new selection made.  Remove the mapping to solve the issue.
