The update rates for the Hardy Controllers are:
HI 2110WI = 50msec
HI 2151/30WC = 50msec
HI 2160RC = 50msec
HI 3010 = 18msec
HI 3030 = 18msec
HI 3300 = 18msec
HI 3600 = 18msec
HI 4050 = 9msec
HI 4050+ = 4 or 9 msec
HI 4060 = 9msec
HI 1746WS = 50msec
HI 1756WS = 9msec
HI 1756-2WS = 9msec
HI 1756FC = 9msec
HI 1756-DF = 9 msec
HI 1769WS = 10msec
HI 1769-2WS = 10msec
HI 1771WS = 50msec
HI 200DNWM = *10msec or *100msec,
HI 4050CW = 4msec-9msec
HI 6300 = 18msec
HI 6500 = 9msec
HI 6600 = 9msec
HI 2080 = 20ms
*The HI 200DNWM Series A update rate is ten times per second (100msec), the HI 200DNWM Series B may be configured to update either ten times per second with WAVERSAVER® set to 2 or above (100msec), or at 100 times per second with WAVERSAVER® set to 0 or 1 (10msec).
The correct number of updates per second you need is dependent on your process requirements. The update rate on each above listed Hardy instrument is a fixed value.
If you have 20 updates per second, each update takes 50 mSec (50 mSec X 20 = 1 sec).
If you have 110 updates per second, each update takes 9 mSec (9.09 mSec X 110 = 1 sec).
You can calculate the amount of weight change per update and see if that amount is within your tolerance range. Using the middle scale controller that updates 20 times per second will see a weight change every 50ms. If you are trying to fill a container, the rate at which you fill is important to save time in production. Accuracy is just as important. If you fill a 10 kg bag in one minute, the rate of change is 10 kg/minute, (3300 updates per minute). So every update you will see an average of 3.03g increase in the bag. If you were trying to control the fill to 1.5g, the fill speed would need to be slowed for the final few seconds. This way reducing the final rate to 5 kg/minute to insure a single update will capture the 1.5g target. In actuality you would want to slow so you had double the resolution to insure the target was struck. This means on this application example the load cell maximum capacity would be less than, 0.75g times 15,000, equals a 11.25 kg load cell. This also means in order to achieve the one minute fill to 10 kg the fast fill will need to be faster than 10 kg/min to allow for the speed change and the slower rate at the end.
WAVERSAVER® is a feature available only on Hardy controllers that allows you to ignores vibrations and produces a smooth weight reading using one average.
