New HIDS Drum Scales!
Click Here to Learn More!Auto Zero and Zero tolerance parameters work the same on all the Hardy weight controllers with a zero function.
ZERO TOLERANCE could be considered the manual zero button and is a parameter that allows the gross weight to be set to a zero value. This is done by manually pressing the front display's upper left "ZERO" button. The Zero Tolerance parameter is an accumulative plus and minus limit and a setting of 10 will allow an accumulative weight of +10 to -10 units. If the weight is outside of the accumulated tolerance, ERROR 6 is displayed. To clear ERROR 6, you will need to clean your tank to remove the accumulated build-up or increase the ZERO TOLERANCE value.
The AUTO ZERO TOLERANCE setting is the Automatic Zero feature. Any command requesting Gross Zero across communications or the Auto Zero Tracking option uses the AUTO ZERO TOLERANCE parameter. The AUTO ZERO TOLERANCE parameter is also an accumulative plus & minus setting. A setting of 10 will allow an accumulative weight of +10 to -10 to be zeroed. If the weight is outside of the accumulated tolerance NO error is displayed. The Automatic Zero command requires you to monitor the weight to insure the scale is at zero. This can be over communications or visually from the front display. If this is not possible, use of the AUTO ZERO feature should be reconsidered.
To change the ZERO TOLERANCE or AUTO ZERO TOLERANCE, you need to go into the calibration menu. To do this, your unit needs to be in Gross mode. Next, push the "Cal/8" button. When SEC CD is displayed, press "Enter". A flashing zero then appears, press "Enter". Enter in the security code "5321" and then press "Enter". The word UNIT appears. Press the "Up Arrow" until ZERO TOLERANCE (O TOL) or AUTO ZERO TOLERANCE (AO TOL) is displayed, press "Enter". Press the "Test/Clr" button to clear out the current value, enter in your new value and press "Enter". Then scroll up through the menu's until you reach END CAL and press "Enter". Now your values are set.
*When using AUTO ZERO TOLERANCE, Dip Switch #8 (on the back of the unit) needs to be set to the On position* The steps for the above procedure can also be found in chapter 6 of the manuals.
A note of clarification; the Tare command is only used for Net Weight and will only work when the scale is Out Of Motion. Out of motion is when the scale is not filling or dispensing material and is quiet for one second (and is within the Motion Tolerance parameter). You may Tare (Zero) the Net Weight at any weight level.
NOTE: Care should be taken in setting up the unit if auto zero tracking is to be used. The HI 2151/30 and HI 2110 units will save data to the SMM every time the zero, tare or auto zero functions are run. This raises the potential to reach or exceed the maximum one million writes capability of the SMM. If this happens, there us a potential chance of having corrupted data written into the unit at power up.
This problem was resolved September, 2010 with a new SMM design. This new SMM is included on all the new HI2100 series weight controllers manufactured after that date and is physically longer than the original SMM. A replacement SMM may be ordered from the Hardy Service Center or your local Hardy Sales Representative. The HI3000 series will still use the older cream colored SMM. As the blabk SMM is not totally compatible with the HI3000s.
