What is the best way to mount the HI LPRE load points?

Last updated 05/16/2017 08:51 AM

Question

What is the recommendations for mounting the HI LPRE load points? Specifically, how do I mount the top plate with the lift off plate to my system?

Answer

For the best installation of the HI LPRE load points, Hardy recommends purchasing the standard HIWP-C3 welding plate along with the load point. The welding plate has two 5/16"-18 threaded holes that match the lift-off bolts provided with HILPRE load point. This allows the user to thread the lift-off bolts directly into the supplied plate and set the proper lift-off gap (about the thickness of a credit card or approximately 0.76 mm/0.030 in). For users with machining capabilities, the dimensions of the welding plate can be easily duplicated in a machine shop.

Warning: When welding the load point to the structure, it is important to remember that load cells are not intended to withstand the electrical current of welding. The load cell should not be installed when any welding activity is taking place.

The user may also choose not to use a welding plate and bolt directly to the weighing structure. In this case, the user may need to source longer lift-off bolts to meet the needs of the specific application. As stated earlier, the user should ensure the proper liftoff gap is set (about the thickness of a credit card or approximately 0.76 mm/0.030 in).
