Question

What is the best way to access my HI 4000 or HI 3000 series units? Do you have as much access through the communications as you do accessing from the front panel or from the web browser?

Answer

You can access your HI 4050 directly through the keypad, the web browser, or by one of the communication options, Ethernet I/P, Modbus, Profibus, RIO, or DeviceNet.

The web browser gives the user access to the entire setup of the unit. This includes all mapping functions.

The answer would also apply to the HI 4060 and the HI 3000 series units.
NOTE:  RIO is no longer available on the 3000 series units.

The front keypad gives the user access to the entire setup except the mapping functions are limited.

With Ethernet I/P, Modbus, Profibus, RIO, or DeviceNet communications the user can have access to the entire setup of the unit and its operation, except the mapping functions. However, to have this kind of access depends on the mapping setup done through the web browser. With proper mapping the user can have the same access level with Ethernet I/P, Modbus, Profibus, RIO, and/or DeviceNet as you have through the front panel.
NOTE: This kind of full access would be limited to accessing one parameter at a time to either download or upload the values.
