What is Hardy Link?

Question

What is Hardy Link in the HI 2151 and HI 2160 series units?

Answer

Hardy Link is a standard feature on the HI 3030, HI 2151/30WC and HI 2160RC. With Hardy Link the operator has the ability to assign a unique address to each controller.

On the HI 2151/30WC, and the HI 2160RC this addressing capability, between 0 and 99, is available on the standard serial ports.

When used in conjunction with the RS-422/485, it allows multi-drop communications, (multiple controllers) on the same communications line. On RS 232 communications, it allows a Token Ring configuration to be used.

Without Hardy Link, the units will not have the ability to have an address assigned.

On the HI3000 series controllers Hardy link is a peer to peer communication using the standard EtherNet TCP/IP port and mapping.  This HI3000 variety of communications can monitor adjacent operations, communications, and  inputs and output I/O for shared control to a process.
