What is Dynamic Data Exchange?

The HI 2151/30WC has Dynamic Data Exchange, which is used with Microsoft Windows and allows the user to create bi-directional links from one document, file, application or instrument to another document, file, application or instrument. Hardy Process Solution's DDE can link your HI 2151/30WC weight controller into a Windows based application (e.g. Wonderware, Visual Basic, Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, or Quattro Pro). This will require the user to provide a communications driver program like noted to transport, parcel, and place into a database type program. 

Hardy Process Solutions offers a DDE communications driver program as the B14 option for the HI 2151/30 unit.

Hardy Process Solutions does not support or offer any third party application software.

After establishing a bi-directional link between an application and the weight controller (via the Hardy DDE or other driver program), you can update weight data and change settings by issuing a simple command from a PC to one or several weight controllers. Where this is a good way to monitor an application, but serial communications is not a good way to control an application.  With the serial overhead and hand shaking protocol there is too much of a time drag on the control for accurate and repeatable control.
