What does the Scale Capacity (SC CAP) parameter mean on the HI 2151/30WC?

Last updated 04/21/2014 07:54 AM

Question

What does the Scale Capacity (SC CAP) parameter mean on the HI 2151/30WC? Does the number entered represent the amount of material to be weighed, or the gross of all the weight on the load cells, ie, hopper assembly, material, etc?

If I exceed the scale capacity will I get a --HI-- indication on my display?

Answer

The HI 2151/30WC Manual can be found online at HI 2151/30 products and go to the Docs and Programs tab.

Section 6.2.10 Setting the Scale Capacity (SC CAP)

The scale capacity setting is the maximum gross weight reading you want to measure. If you exceed this weight by more than 5%, then your HI 2151/30WC will display a "HI" indication. This setting has no relation to the capacity of the scale or the amount of deadload you have on the scale. It reacts strictly on the gross weight reading.

Example: You have a 10,000 lbs scale with a vessel that weighs 1000 lbs on it. This vessel, when full, will hold 2,500 lbs of material. You do not want to put more than 2,500 lbs of material in the vessel, or it will overflow. You set the SC CAP at 2,000. This means that as you fill the vessel, if you exceed 2,100 lbs, the unit will display the "HI" indication to let you know you are getting close to overflowing.
