Click Here to Learn More!There are three possible indications on the display other than the normal weight readings. These are:
Explanation:
Display: *-*-*-*
When the HI 6110 display shows the *-*-*-*, it indicates the display is not receiving any data from the unit or basically is not communicating with the unit.
This is normally caused by a wiring issue between the display and the unit.
Another possible cause would be if the display is in ‘Split Screen’ mode and the units have not been discovered.
Display: ******
If the display on the HI 6110 display shows ******, it would indicate that the value for the weight reading has too many digits to be displayed. This would be 6 digits or 5 digits and a neg sign.
In normal operation if you have any decimal places, when the displayed reading would exceed the 6 digits the unit would drop a decimal place one at a time to make it fit.
Example: If you had 4 decimal places and the weight changed from 99.9999 to 100.0000, the unit would drop a decimal point and display 100.000. once it ran out of decimal places to drop it would go to the ******. So, with a change from 999999 to 1000000, the display would change and show ******.
If you find the weight values exceed the number of digits on the display, it would be an indication the units of measure are set too small for the capacity of the scale. It should be changed to a larger units of measure setting:
oz, to lb;
lb to ton;
or
g to kg;
kg to ton.
Display: - - - - - -
If the display shows ------, this would indicate an A/D error. The input from the load cells is out of range. This may be an indication the scale is overloaded, has a wiring issue, damaged load cell, or possible a sensitivity setup error.
