Click Here to Learn More! There are a few reasons why your Ethernet adapter cannot communicate with your HI 3000 series unit (which includes the HI 3030, HI 3010, HI 3300, HI 3600, and HI 3601). There is a configuration that needs to be set up for the IP address in the HI 3000 series. This IP address is different than the Ethernet TCP/IP address of your unit. The TCP/IP address is the standard Ethernet port and is used to go online with the browser for configuration of the unit. The Ethernet IP is an option for communications to the PLC. These will use two different IP addresses.
NOTE: Once you have made changes to the IP address, you must power the unit down before it will use the new address.
If the configuration in the PLC is incorrect, then communications will not work.
The proper configuration in the Control Logix I/O configuration for your HI 3000 unit is:
Comm Format: Data Int
Input Attribute 100 with size 125
Output Attribute 150 with size 125
Configuration Attribute 1 with size 0
RPI time 20 ms or higher
Correct IP address
NOTE: If you have firmware version 2.14.00.00 or higher, released 9-22-2010, then you can configure the size of your Input and Output for the unit. Prior to this version, it was fixed at 125 for both sizes.
