Question

What are the status bit definitions for the HI 1746WS, HI 1769WS and the HI 1756WS?

Answer

The status word for the HI 1746WS, HI 1769WS and the HI 1756WS (including the 2 channel modules) is a value derived from all the bits that are set. Each bit is an indication of a condition within the module. To determine the status of the module, you would need to look at the value as a binary pattern and apply each bit location to the condition it represents.

Example:
In the HI 1746 module, the status word is a value of 69, the binary representation of this would be 0000 0000 0100 0101, where bits 0, 2, and 6 are on. Bit 0 represents and A/D conversion error; bit 2 represents the unit is calibrated in lbs; and bit 6 indicates the scale is in motion.

Definition of status bits:  NOTE:  all status conditions may not be available in all module.  Check the manual for your module for which conditions may apply.

A/D Conversion Error or ERRORADCONVERT – An error that occurs when the mv return from the load cell system is out of range for the unit. The HI 1746WS, HI 1769 and HI 1756WS provide 5v excitation voltage, and the input range is 0 to +15 mv.  Any time the input mv reading is out of this range, the unit will have an A/D Conversion Error.

A/D Failure or ERRORADFAILURE – This is an error indicating that the A/D converter in the unit is no longer responding. This is normally a hardware failure and a unit would need to be returned for repair. On occasion, clearing the memory of the unit will restart the converter and the unit can recover without being returned.

Weight In lbs (0 = kg) or STATUSENGLISH – This bit is an indication the unit was calibrated in lbs. If the bit is off, then it would indicate the unit was calibrated in kg.

Zero Tracking Enabled or STATUSZTRACK – This is an indication that the AutoZero Tracking is turned on. Without this being enabled, the Auto Zero Tracking is disabled.

Tare Enabled – This is an indication that the ability to run the Tare command is enabled. Without this, the Tare command cannot be run.

Zero Enabled. This is an indication that the ability to run the Zero command is enabled. Without this, the Zero command cannot be run.

Weight in Motion or STATUSINMOTION – This is an indication that the weight is changing on the scale.

No Calibration or ERRORNOCAL – The unit is at factory default settings.

Non-Volatile RAM failure or ERROREEPROMWRITE – The non-volatile memory has failed. New changes cannot be saved.

Excitation Monitor or ERROREXCITEMON - Error bit indicating the resistance of the load cell system has changed since the calibration was performed.

COMMUNICATION TIMEOUT – Indicates a communications failure between the ASSIC and the Module processor.  Will show up as a solid red Comm Led also.

NVRDEFAULTED - indicates the module was given a command to return to default conditions.

ERRORMAX144 – Hardware failure in the excitation monitor circuit.

STATUSCMDRCVD – indicates the unit received a command in its discrete input table.

STATUSCMDERROR – the command received in the input table failed.

STATUSCHANENABLED – the channel is enabled.
