Click Here to Learn More! The Galvanized Zinc Plated model number ends with -45X, and the Stainless Steel models end in -43X.
Physically, the colors of the two are different. The Galvanized Zinc Plated color ranges from yellow to golden amber. The Stainless Steel mounts are silver and have no coating.
The Advantage of the Plated LPRA Series Load Points are they are plated with 12-15 um Electro Zinc plus Yellow Chromate Dip. The long-term corrosion resistance of Zinc is directly proportional to the thickness. Typically commercial coatings are 3-5 um thick. Hardy specifies a heavier coating of 12-15 um.
The electro Zinc plating is enhanced by chemical chromate passivation conversion which applies a harder surface film, referred to as ZYC (Zinc Yellow Chromate). In dry indoor environments, this plating’s service life (prior to first signs of corrosion) can be greater than 20 years.
The Zinc coating also provides sacrificial protection on scratches during construction and handling.
For the ADVANTAGE® Series Load Sensors, the Stainless Steel type is as follows:
Mount: 304 Stainless Steel
Load Sensor: 17-4 PH Stainless Steel
Fittings: 316 Stainless Steel
