Answer

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE HI 4050 AND HI 2151/30WC WEIGHT CONTROLLERS

PACKAGING - HI 4050:
The HI 4050 is presently available in panel, remote and wall mount or blind din rail-mounting and blind wall mount configurations. The Panel/Remote version comes standard under the –PM model. The instrument body in this configuration can be mounted to the back of a panel (or the Display/Keyboard) or remotely up to 100 feet away. A template is included to drill standard holes for mounting the Display/Keyboard to the front of the panel no rectangular hole is needed. The depth of this instrument is only 76.2mm.  Add another 50mm for cable service loops when planning an enclosure.

The –DR model indicates blind mounting to a standard din rail.

All mounting hardware is included with both  -PM and -DR versions. For panel mount installations a ribbon cable from the instrument body to the Keyboard/Display is included.

PACKAGING - HI 2151/30WC:
The HI 2151/30WC is available in panel, remote, blind remote, and wall mount configurations. The HI 2151/30WC panel mount version has the instrument body attached to the back of the display/keyboard and mounts into a panel cutout of 78.4 x 146 mm. The remote mount –RM has the display/keyboard mount separately from the instrument body via an included five-foot cable. This version also requires a 78.4 x 146 mm panel cutout. The blind remote mount –BR provides the instrument body and mounting hardware. A network communications option or portable display (HI 2151/30WC-E4) must be purchased with this version.

The wall mount –WS has the display/keyboard and instrument body pre-mounted in a stainless steel NEMA 4X enclosure. The dimensions of this enclosure are 361.95 mm high, 311.15mm wide and 152.4mm deep.

DISPLAY/KEYBOARD:
The HI 4050 has a 128 x 64 backlit LCD graphic display. It displays a 6 digit chosen weighing mode value in large numbers and can also display two additional weighing modes in smaller numbers. The keyboard consists of nine tactile keys four of which are soft keys with their function shown in the display above them.

The HI 2151/30WC display has a alpha-numeric six digit, 14 Segment red LED with a 30 segment LED bar graph or twelve status LED indicators. Only the value of the chosen weighing mode is displayed. The keyboard consists of five tactile dedicated function keys and eleven tactile dual-purpose numeric and function keys.

CORE FEATURES:
WAVERSAVER® for the HI 4050 has patent pending dynamic filtering added, improving the stability of static weight readings by 3X.  The HI 2151/30WC uses standard WAVERSAVER®.
C2® is the same for both the HI 4050 and the HI 2151/30WC

INTEGRATED TECHNICIAN® (IT):
The HI 4050 uses the reference built into the HI 215IT series summing cards to check the stability of the instrument and cabling to the summing card.

The HI 2151/30WC can monitor the excitation voltage from the instrument to the load cells so that it is in the acceptable range, if it is not it displays and transmits an error message. The HI 2151/30WC has a reference built into it for checking the stability of the instrument in the system.  All other IT functions are the same in both.

SECURE MEMORY MODULE (SMM):
The HI 4050 uses an standard SD memory device (same as your camera) which is easily expandable and can be read and written to a PC. The HI 2151/30WC uses a custom memory device that is not expandable and cannot be read by a PC.

Do not "hot swap" SMM's in your HI 2151/30WC or your option data may be erased. You should not "hot swap" SMM's in your HI 4050.
