Click Here to Learn More!I have an older HI 2151/20 and want to upgrade to a current model. Is the HI 2151/30 WS the direct replacment?
What steps are necessary to replace a HI 2151/20WC with a HI 2151/30WC?
Although the HI 2151/30WC is a direct replacement for the HI 2151/20WC, to determine which current model Hardy controller best matches your needs you should review your facility requirements with Hardy Tech Support (800-821-5831), or contact your Local Hardy Rep.
To make sure you get the correctly configured replacement 2151/30WC, please review the attached tech note with photos.
To replace your discontinued HI 2151/20WC with the HI 2151/30WC, perform the following:
1. Obtain Calibration and Option Card set up data from the HI 2151/20WC as per Appendix B of Operations and Installation Manual 0596-0178. All option cards that are used in the HI 2151/20WC controller can be transferred to the HI 2151/30WC EXCEPT the Modbus communications and any optional Serial communications cards.
NOTE: The standard HI 2151/30WC universal serial port supports RS232, RS485, and RS422 communications with proper jumper selection.
2. Remove the green Phoenix connectors from the back of the HI 2151/20WC. Remove the 2151/20WC and install the 2151/30WC in the same location. The mounting dimensions are the same. Some connectors have changed size and pin count. Move one wire at a time or consult the manual.
3. The HI 2151/20WC Load Cell, Remote Function and Serial Port connectors cannot be used with the HI 2151/30WC. The HI 2151/30WC comes with the necessary connectors.
a) The Load Cell connector has been changed from a (3.5 mm) to a standard (5 mm) for ease of installation. Write down the color code if you do not have documentation for the wiring color code.
b) The Remote Function connector has been changed from 10 to 9 pins. The second (redundant) ground on pin #10 has been eliminated.
c) The Serial Port now utilizes a 5 pin connector that is jumper configured for either RS-232 or RS-422/485 communications.
4. Install the appropriate wires to the Phoenix connectors on the back of your new 2151/30WC. See the installation section of the manual that can be downloaded at http: www.hardysolutions.com
Hovering over products and then select the controller of intrest
5. Calibrate and set up option cards in the HI 2151/30WC as if it was a new installation using the data obtained in step #1.
