How does the ROC work in the HI 1756WS?

Last updated 05/12/2015 08:43 AM

Question

The ROC is not giving me the product that I'm dispensing (between 400 and 800 kg/hr) after I changed some parameters. Actually it just shows small values below "1" near to "0". The parameters changed in the program were:

PARAM_HARDY.ROC_TB: 1)1800, 2)60
PARAM_HARDY.Motion_TOL: 1)1, 2)2, 3)0.1, 4)0.001
PARAM_HARDY.Num_AVGS: 10

The changes made to these parameters did not make a difference in the rate reported. How does the ROC work in the HI 1756WS? Why didn't the changes to these parameters take effect?

Answer

The ROC in the HI 1756WS is reported in units/sec and is not adjustable. The only parameter that will have any effect on the ROC is the ROC time base. This would be adjusted to smooth out the ROC value that is fluctuating due to uneven flow of material.

If the product is flowing at a constant rate, changing the time base would not have an effect of the reported ROC value. In this case, your feed rate is 400 to 800 kg/hr. This ROC in kg/sec (as reported by the module) would be 0.1 to 0.2. The user would need to multiply the reported ROC value by 3600 to get the kg/hr value.
