How do I manually setup a Windows Vista EtherNet port?

Instruction for configuring an EtherNet TCP/IP port on a VISTA operating system to communicate with a Hardy weight controller.  Instructions for the Series 7 and XP operating systems are in the weight controller service manual.

Or:

  1. From the Start menu, open the Control Panel.
  2. On the left side of the window, select Classic View.
  3. Double-click on the Network and Sharing Center icon.
  4. If any of the items are set to ON, click the down arrow to the right of the item, select Turn OFF, then select Apply. Repeat these steps for each item that is turned on.
  5. On the left side of the Network and Sharing Center window, select Manage network connections.
  6. Right-click the Local Area Connection icon and choose Properties.
  7. If a User Account Control window appears, click Continue.
  8. On the Networking tab, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4 may be v6) and click Properties.
  9. Make sure that the radio buttons for use the following IP address is selected.
  10. Enter the IP address like entered in the weight controller with the last octet being a unique number.
