Question

How do I convert from pound to kilograms on my HI 2160RC?

Answer

The HI 2160RC does not have the ability to automatically convert from pounds to KG as most other Hardy scale controllers. You can use the C2 calibration weight reading numbers to do a tradition calibration in KGs.

The way to convert from pounds to kilograms in the HI2160RC is as follows:

  1. With the scale already calibrated using C2 (in pounds) fill the hopper and read the pounds in the hopper from the front display.
  2. Convert this weight reading to KG. Example: 400lb = 400 x .4536 = 181.4kg. This will be your new SPAN weight. (1 pound = 0.4536 kg or 1 kg = 2.2046 pounds)
  3. Enter the calibration menu and change the mass units, time units and decimal points as needed. Going to KG's you normally add one decimal point.
  4. Since the zero is already established, arrow down to the Span entry. In the SPAN menu, input the converted weight value currently in the hopper.
  5. Press enter, wait for the counts to stop rolling and press enter. You are now calibrated in KG.
  6. Return to all the other menus and convert the settings to KG.
  7. Re-do the rate calibration numbers. You can convert the current rates in the rate calibration menu and just re-enter as KG. Pressing enter will recalculate the k(pid) numbers.

You are now set to run in KG/HR.
