Corruptions in memory are normally a result of excessive power surges, power spikes, load cell line noise and/or static discharges. If the memory in your HI 3000 gets corrupted you will have to clear the ram memory to clear the corruption. If this is an isolated case, then clearing ram will solve the problem. If the problem returns, then the cause should be found and resolved.
Possible solutions might be:
1. Ensure you are using a “computer clean” dedicated power source. This is probably the most common cause of a memory corruption.
2. Check all cable routing. Low voltage (less than 24v dc) should be routed away from any higher voltage lines. This would also include keeping higher voltages away from close proximity to the unit itself.
3. Check for proper shielding and grounding of low voltage lines.
4. Check for proper grounding of the instrument, PLC, load cells and/or sensors. There should not be a difference of potential between the grounds of the different components of the system.
NOTE: Clearing memory on your HI 3000 will require you to re-enter all the parameter settings, option settings, setpoints, and calibration settings into your unit.
CLEARING MEMORY ON HI 3000 UNITS
When the memory is cleared in a unit all previously entered operator parameters are returned to the original factory default conditions. The system must be recalibrated and all setpoint and option parameters re-entered. It is strongly recommended that before clearing memory, all calibration, option, and setpoint values be recorded.
There are two methods of clearing memory on the HI 3000 units, which are:
CLEARING HI 3000 MEMORY FROM THE FRONT KEYPAD
1. Before clearing memory, the user must enter in as a user with the HIGH security code. If you are not entered with a high security access, you will not be able to clear the memory.
a. Press the “USER” key.
b. Enter your user ID or initials and enter.
c. Enter the high security code and enter.
d. Exit all the way out of the security menu.
2. Press the “Test” key.
3. Down arrow to Diagnostics and press enter.
4. Down arrow to “Factory Defaults” and press enter.
5. When asked if you are sure, press enter again.
6. Unit will reboot and come back at factory default settings.
NOTE: This will clear the IP address from the unit also.
CLEARING HI 3000 MEMORY FROM THE ONLINE BROWSER
1. Click on “Operation.”
2. Click on Diagnostics”
3. Click on “Set Factory Defaults”
4. Enter in the HIGH security code.
5. Unit will reboot and come back at factory default settings.
NOTE: This will not clear the IP address of the unit.
Now you will need to enter parameter settings, option settings, setpoints, and calibration settings into the unit.
