How do I change the Rate of Change output numbers from the HI 1746WS?

Last updated 10/20/2014 08:59 AM

Question

I want to read a Rate of Change (ROC) in pounds per hour from the HI 1746WS. What do I change to enable this output?

Answer

Output word 16 controls the Rate of Change (ROC) multiplier. The module will calculate the Rate of Change value in units per second. Once it has this value, it will report the Rate of Change based on the Rate of Change Multiplier. This multiplier will determine if the Rate of Change is reported in IEEE floating point format or in integer format. If in integer format, it will determine what decimal place resolution the value will have.

If the ROC Multiplier is set to zero, the reported Rate of Change value will be units per second in floating point format.
If the ROC Multiplier is non zero, then the reported value will be in integer format and will vary depending on the Multiplier setting.

Different values will give varying time references.

1 = units/second
10 = Tenths of units/second.
100 = hundredths of units/second.

60 = units/min
600 = tenths of units/min

3600 = units/hour
36000 = tenths of units/hour
