Question

How do I setup and calibrate my HI 2151/30WC using NTEP?

Answer

The HI 2151/30WC weight controller has been approved for National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) applications. An NTEP kit is available from Hardy Process Solutions that includes special screws for sealing the instrument and NTEP labels. Contact your local Hardy Representative for more information.

A internal and sealable switch is located inside the instrument and not accessible from outside the case.  Do not confuse the interior dip switch with the option lockout array on the backplate.  To configure the instrument for NTEP mode refer to the manual and calibrate the instrument as follows:

1. Remove power cable from the HI 2151/30WC rear panel POWER jack J6. Slide the HI 2151/30WC assembly from the chassis.
2. Ensure DIP switch S2 position 3 is set to ON. This switch is inside the instrument located on the Power and Relay board (bottom board).
3. Move DIP switch S2 position 4 to the opposite of its current setting. This is the NTEP Cal toggle switch.
4. Slide the HI 2151/30WC assembly into the case as shown in Figure 3-4 HI 2151/30WC Housing for Main Board, Power and Relay Board Alignment.
5. Ensure load cell or loading device cable is connected to jack J1.
6. Connect power cable to rear panel POWER jack J6.
7. Observe the center zero, motion, and zero track LED's flash.
8. Calibrate HI 2151/30WC, refer to detailed calibration procedure Section 3.3 Full Calibration Procedure.
9. Observe CTR ZERO, motion, and zero track no longer appear on display.

The "CTR ZERO" message indicator is illuminated when the weight reading is within one-quarter of a graduation of the calibrated zero value.

The maximum allowable resolution in the NTEP mode is 10,000 counts.

The following ERR codes are applicable to NTEP configured units only:

Err 2    NTEP grad size error. Grad size must be greater than the full scale divided by the range.

Err 9    Invalid zero. The zero must be within the zero tolerance.

Err 11  Negative gross weight during acquire tare.

Err 12   All decades after decimal point must be active.

Err 16   Tare greater than span.

Err 17   Acquire tare cannot be used with zero gross weight.

Err 45   Soft-Cal not available in NTEP mode.
