How can I use a relay to indicate a power loss with my HI 2151 series unit?

Last updated 06/15/2015 04:28 AM

Question

Is there a way to use the HI 2151/20WC or the HI 2151/30WC remote function, relays or a contact closure to indicate a power loss signal to a PLC?

Answer

Using the relay to determine power loss to the HI 2151/20WC or HI 2151/30WC is a simple matter. Setting the set point values to insure the relay is always energized and then monitoring the closed contacts. If the power goes down, the relay contacts would open for the indication of a power loss.

One possible setting for the set point would be: Set point value of 999999; Pre act of 0; Deadband of +1. This will insure the relay is on as long as the weight value is less than 1,000,000 units of measure.  If the unit suffers a power failure, the relay will de energize and the contacts will open.

NOTE:  Once the power comes back on, the relay will reenergize.
