Does the HI 1769 have messaging instructions?

Last updated 02/04/2015 11:06 AM

Question

I have noticed the latest sample code does not have any messaging instructions for my HI 1769WS but a more user friendly copy data to/from the IO tags (i.e. move 100 to Local:1:O.Data[0] for a cal low command).  We have used the messaging read/write sample method before, will the latest compactLogix sample code work OK, or will I need to introduce message instructions in the PLC code?

Answer

The HI 1769WS and HI 1769-2WS use only the I/O tables for communications.  These modules operate in the Compact Logix and Micro Logix 1500 platforms.  They do not use any messaging instructions.

The module that uses the message instructions is the HI 1756 WS and HI 1756-2 WS modules.  These are modules for the Control Logix platform.  The ladder logic codes for these two modules are not interchangeable.
