Do we need to buy an SMM if we are already buying a software option for the HI 2151/30WC?

Question

We want to add the Totalizer (or any software option) to our HI 2151/30WC controller, do we need to buy the software option plus a new SMM?

Answer

There is no need to order the SMM (secure memory modules). If you order the HI 2151/30xx-C6, or any C option, you will receive a new SMM with your order. The SMM will have the code to enable the option ordered. If you have other software options already configured in your instrument, list these current options on the sales order so the new SMM can be programmed correctly.

Example: -D2 extra relays are currently programmed in a SMM on a HI 2151/30WC.

Enter the self test screen and review the contents. There is a TAG 1 and TAG 2 information that holds your current options configuration. Typically 09 in tag 1 and 00 in tag 2 is a standard SMM. When ordering a new software option, include your current TAG 1 an TAG 2 values with your order.

Adding new option cards are plug and play and do not require a new SMM.

NOTE: Do not "hot swap" SMM's as your option configuration data may be erased.

NOTE:  If you use a new SMM, you will need to completely set up your unit again.

If you need a new SMM the part number is 0519-0512-06.  Be sure to include your current TAG1 and TAG2 values.
