Can the Hardy 3000 series instruments affect the traffic on my network?

Question

I have an HI 3030 unit connected to my Ethernet network.  Sometimes the network seems to get real slow.  Can the Hardy 3000 series instruments affect the traffic on my network?

Answer

The Hardy 3000 series units have the ability to talk peer to peer.

In the unit configuration/Instrument Setup section, there is a setting for Hardy Link, that will set the number of transmissions the unit will make per second.  This can be set to 55, 11, 1, or reply only.  Depending on the number of devices you have on the network this can aid in controlling traffic on the network, which may effect the response time.
The setting defaults to 55 times/sec. The HI 3000 series units can dominate a network if allowed to.
The user should reduce this setting if there are issues with too much traffic on the network.
