Can Remote I/O and Profibus be used together on a HI 2151/30WC?

Question

Can Remote I/O and Profibus be used together on a HI 2151/30WC?

Answer

Remote I/O and Profibus CANNOT be used together in a HI 2151/30WC.

The Remote I/O and Profibus communications programs use a large amount of processor resources, are used on different process control systems, and it would be rare that both systems would be found in the same process area.

It would not be practical to build an instrument with capabilities that run two communication programs of this level. The older HI 2151/30WC units use different EPROM part numbers for Remote I/O and Profibus. However, the newer HI 2151/30WC units have jumpers on the Main Controller PWA to select either Remote I/O (B8) or Profibus (B12). Either of these two communications programs can be shared with BCD, Serial, and Analog-Out options.

Block read/write examples for both Remote I/O and Profibus are located on the Hardy Website under Products > Product desired > select Docs and Programs
