Can I connect separate scales to a HI 3030?

Last updated 01/12/2015 10:09 AM

Question

I have an application to replace a scale controller that controls two scales. I would like to use a HI 3030 on DeviceNet back to a A-B SLC 5/04. Can I connect two separate scales to a HI 3030 or do I need two HI 3030's? I want to be able to control the scales individually and would also like to do a traditional calibration from each scale.

Answer

The HI 3030 is available in one, two and four scale controller models. The scales share the display screen, but are independent scale systems. The HI 3030 has an optional DeviceNet, EtherNet I/P, Profibus, or ControlNet communications to exchange data to your PLC. The HI 3030 has a front display, and can be programmed from the front display or via the standard Ethernet TCP/IP port. This display is also available for operator viewing.

Hard calibration (traditional) is available as well as our C2® second generation calibration.

The HI 3030 can read the weight information of up to four scales into your PLC, and can control  valves or gates with the optional solid state, four or seven relay outputs and setpoints. That functionality can also come from your PLC.

Hardy has an HI 3010 Filler Dispenser that has five user digital inputs and four or seven relay outputs that would monitor switches and control valves. Using the HI 3010 you would need one HI 3010 for each scale.  The HI 3010 is a standalone filler dispenser system that can be controller or report to a PLC control system.

We have a wide variety of weight controllers that can meet your needs, depending on the application.

With Hardylink you can link up to 16 other HI3000 series controllers to the single communications port.  Search WebTech Knowledge base for additonal information.
