Can I communicate with a PC using visual basic and a HI 3000 series controller?

Last updated 08/19/2014 09:20 AM

Question

I want to develop an application in Visual Basic to communicate with my HI 3000 series controller via a PC.

Can I use either the -MB or the HI 3000-OPC options?

Answer

Yes, you can use the -MB option or the -OPC functionality (using your own OPC driver) for the HI 3000 series to develop an application using Visual Basic. There is an example of a Visual Basic program included with the purchase of the Modbus over EtherNet communications package. The OLE for Process Control (OPC) is used as a Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) type program for communication applications and is capable of being controlled using Visual Basic programming.  Hardy no longer provides or provides support for OPC drivers as they are readily available on the market.
