Question

Can I add Profibus or DeviceNet to my 4050? Can I upgrade the firmware in my 4050?

Answer

If your HI 4050 was originally shipped after July 17, 2007 you can add Profibus or DeviceNet to your unit by purchasing the option and installing it in your unit. You can also upgrade your firmware to the latest version.

For Hardware options:
If your unit was shipped prior to 7/17/07, then you would need to return your HI 4050 back to the factory for an upgrade before you could add any communications options.

For Firmware updates:
If your unit was shipped prior to 7/17/07, and you already have a DeviceNet option, you would need to return the unit to the factory for an upgrade before you can upgrade your firmware version to the latest.

If you do not remember when you purchased your HI 4050 then call us with the serial number of your HI 4050 and we can review our database for that information.

If you already updated your unit with new firmware, and found that now your communications does not operate, you may need to reload the old version of firmware. Attached is the old version of firmware, version 1.1.0.0.

DO NOT LOAD THIS FIRMWARE INTO YOUR UNIT UNLESS IT IS TO RECOVER FROM LOADING THE LATEST VERSION IN ERROR.

If you load this version into a unit that was originally shipped later than July 17, 2007 your network communications will stop operating.
