Click Here to Learn More!Am I required to use Hardy's C2® cable, and what are the C2® cable specifications?
No, you are not required to use Hardy's C2® Cable to perform a C2® calibration, but the C2® connection between the load cell and instrument must be completed for proper communications. This may not be possible with cable other than Hardy Certified C2® Cable. In order to perform a C2® calibration a Hardy Instrument and Hardy C2® capable load sensors are required. C2® technology and C2® cable is only offered by Hardy Process Solutions.
Please note that Hardy Process Solutions C2® Certified Cable (p/n 6020-0001) is specifically designed to process the low signal voltages found in weighing systems with minimal loss. If you do not use Hardy Certified C2® Cable your systems accuracy may be compromised. (See attached for reasons to use Hardy C2 cable.)
The gray (+C2) and violet (-C2) are the two conductors in the Hardy Certified C2® Cable dedicated to C2® functionality.
Hardy Process Solutions recommends using C2® load cell cable between the junction box and weight controller in C2 Second Generation Calibration weighing systems. There isn't any equivalent cable on the market and Hardy designed the C2® cable especially for weighing applications. After evaluating other manufacturers cables, we can only recommend using Hardy Certified C2® Cable.
1. Part Number: 6020-0001-0. ROHS compliant.
2. Eight, 22 AWG Conductors In a 0.40" Diameter Shielded Cable.
3. Vinyl Outer Jacket Rated At 105 Degrees C, Meeting MIL-I-631 Class F.
4. 36 AWG, Braided Tinned Copper Shield, Meeting MIL-C-7078.
5. Mylar Barrier Tape Wrap Meeting MIL-I-631.
6. Twisted Pair Color Coded as Gray and Violet. (Used for C2®)
7. Individual Conductors Color Coded Green, Blue, Red, White, Brown, Black.
8. Wire To Wire Insulation Resistance Minimum 2,500 Ohms 50 VDC.
9. Operationally Tested For Lengths Up To 1,000 Feet Without Intrinsic Safety Barriers And 250 Feet With Intrinsic Safety Barriers.
NOTE: Load Cell Cables Must Be Routed In Low Voltage (less than 35 volts) Cable Runs To Avoid RFI and EMI Interference.
See attached drawing for additional C2® cable specifications. Please note that there are two black spacer "wires" that have no center conductors and are used to keep wire spacing correct. There is one black wire with a center conductor used for the negative excitation signal.
Additional information:
Cable is UV resistant and weatherproof. It will eventually dry out and crack, but it is made from a PVC material and is ok to use outdoors.
The cable does not qualify for and is not tray rated.
