Why is my HI 3030 display frozen?

Question

Why is my HI 3030 display locked up?

Answer

There are a couple of possibilities for having a "frozen" display. This could be an indication of bad load cell system, wiring, or problem with the unit itself. If you have another unit, swap it out with the bad unit to test the load cell system. If the problem persists then you have a problem with the load cell system. If the problem follows the original unit then you have a problem with that unit. Some things to check:

1. Verify all wiring connections are secure. If this is a new installation, ensure the color code of wiring is correct. Measure the voltages at the back of the unit on the load cell connector. These should be: -exc to + exc = +5v, -sen to +sen = +5v, -sig to + sig = 0 to +15 mv. You should be able to change the weight on the scale and see a change in the -sig to +sig reading. To figure the amount of change expected: divide the range of scale by 15mv. (ex: 1000 lbs scale/15 mv = 66lbs/mv. This says that you would expect a 1mv change for every 66 lbs placed on scale.)

2. Possible memory corruption in your HI 3030 can cause problems. If all voltages check OK and there is a positive signal voltage change with increased weight, then clearing memory may solve the problem. Please review the WebTech answer on how to clear the memory in your HI 3030 ().

If all the voltages check good, the memory has been cleared and your HI 3030 still has a frozen display, then it would need to be returned to the factory for repair. You can request a return authorization online at http://www.hardysolutions.com/support-center/repairs-form
