Why does my ControlNet communication fail on my replacement HI 3000 unit?

I have an existing system with an HI 3000 series unit on ControlNet to my PLC. My original HI 3000 series unit failed so I replaced it with a new HI 3000 unit with ControlNet, but the new unit will not communicate over the ControlNet network. What could be the problem?

If your HI 3000 series units were purchased at different times, the version of the ControlNet card can differ. In some PLC systems this version difference is enough to cause the PLC to not communicate with the unit. In these cases, RSNetworx for ControlNet would need to be utilized to update the network with the new version of the ControlNet card being used. Once this is done the new card should communicate without further problems.
