Why can't I get RS Logix configuration software to calibrate my HI 1771WS?

There are two different versions of the configuration software built into the RS Logix 5 software. The original version had a bug where sometimes it would not clear the bits it has set to do certain commands. If these bits are not reset, then the next time the command is run, the unit will not see the transition from off to on of these bits and will ignore the command. You can check word 32 in the block write data file to see if there are bits set that should not be. During normal operation, word 32 should be a zero. The later version of the configuration software solves this issue.

With the built in configuration software, there are ladder logic rungs that need to be in the program to run the software. The configuration software will ask if you want to insert these rungs of code into your program the first time you set it up for a module. If you insert the logic, insure the inserted rungs of logic are in the running portion of the program. If you insert the code into a subroutine that is not running, the code never runs and the commands triggered will not work. (If you do not insert the code into file #2, there should be a jump instruction to the subroutine where the rungs of logic were placed.)

No other block transfers to the same module are allowed to run during the time the configuration software is running. If multiple block transfers are trying to communicate to the same module at the same time, they can interfere with each other, causing a failure.
