Why can't I connect my HI 3000 unit to the DeviceNet Network?

Last updated 07-28-2014 03:44

Question

We are having problems connecting our HI 3000 series controller (either an HI 3030, HI 3010, HI 3300 or HI 3600) to the DeviceNet network. Any suggestions?

Answer

All the HI 3000 series units (which include the HI 3010, HI 3030, HI 3300, and HI 3600) operate the same way for Devicenet.  You can determine if the problem is with your Hardy HI 3000 series unit or the PLC system by connecting your HI 3000 series unit to another Devicenet system. Questions you will need to answer to narrow down the problem include:
1. Was your HI 3000 series unit working on this system before, and then failed or is this a new installation?
2. What is the error that you are getting?
3. Is your HI 3000 series unit configured as a Slave or Master?
4. Is your HI 3000 series unit listed in the scan list of your scanner?

Other things to check for when the Hardy unit has problems connecting to the DeviceNet network:
1. Verify the Devicenet option is turned on (in option menu) and the address is correct and does not conflict with another device.
2. Verify the power connection does not have the +V connection made if you are powered with AC voltage. This could cause a conflict with your Devicenet power source.
3. Verfiy the Devicenet network is properly terminated at both ends.
4. Verify the system has the Hardy 3000 Devicenet EDS file installed.
