Why am I getting a LO reading on my HI 2151/30WC display?

Last updated 07-29-2015 10:32

Question

I have calibrated my HI 2151/30WC and HI 2110WI and confirmed the weight reading is correct, however on both the displays I am getting a "LO" message whenever my scales try to go to a negative number. What does this mean?

Answer

Please review the HI 2151/30WC or HI 2110WI manual. You can download the manual at www.hardysolutions.com and click on Products select the product desired then click on Docs and Programs.

In the HI 2151/30WC manual, on page 8-7 you will find the following:

Error Message Definition:
- - LO - - A Load cell(s) is wired backwards and/or load cell mV signal displays a weight lower than zero (i.e. negative millivolt value/offset).

When you get a LO indication it means is that your load cell signal is a negative value. You may have some binding on your system that is pulling up on your scale. Your load cell may have a slight off set that is not countered by your deadload.  Remove the deadload and again measure the signal output.  The acceptable off set is -0.1mV.    You may need to add a small amount of extra weight to overcome this shift or replace the load cell if that is not an option.  Your HI 2151/30WC or HI 2110WI will operate properly as soon as the signal is above 0 mv, But the weight will be offset by that amount.

We can send a local technician to your location to help you determine why you are getting a negative signal.
