Question

Which Hardy Instrument can perform a weight totalization function?

Answer

Hardy Instruments offers two models that can perform a weight totalizer function. These are the HI 3010 and the HI 2151/30WC. Each model instruments operates slightly differently, as follows:

Totalizer on the HI 3010 Filler/Dispenser:
You have 12 different totalizers, one for each ingredient. When you enable the totalizer, then run a cycle, the unit will add the weight amount from that cycle into the totalizer. This is an automatic process and will take the actual weight from the scale to add and will add this weight even if it is out of tolerance.

Totalizer on the HI 2151/30WC Weight Controller:
The HI 2151/30WC-C6 option is a manual operation totalizer and requires a contact closure on the remote function connector. This remote function connector is in the center of the back panel of the unit and has one pin marked TOTAL. The contact closure is monetary and between the GROUND terminal and TOTAL.

How it works with a batching application:
You have an empty scale; you tare the NET weight and start to fill. When the fill is complete, the operator presses a button that adds the NET weight to the totalizer. He empties the scale and repeats. This way he keeps track of the amount of material he has processed.

To clear the totalized weight and start again press the MODE button until the LED is on the totalizer and press the test clear button.

Using the totalizer -C6 option is how some people do belt scale weighing. There is an index counter module made by Red Lion with set point relay contacts that count the belt pulses. As an example, you have a conveyor belt that is 1200 pulses long. When 1200 pulses are counted, this represents one full load on the belt. The counter module activates the contact closure across the TOTAL to GROUND terminals on the remote function and releases. This action adds that amount of weight on the belt to the totalizer register. The counter module keeps track of the pulses and tells the /30 when to add weight to the totalizer register. That way you can track the total amount of material delivered.
