Question

What is the maximum I/O that can I use in my HI 3000 or HI 4000 series over DeviceNet?  The system needs to control 4 scales and the total I/O for the four scales is 75 Outputs, 30 Inputs.

Answer

The length of the Device Net table is 125 words input and 125 words output. In the Device Net management tool, the user determines how many of these words will be transferred between the master and slaves.  DeviceNet communication port is standard for the HI 3010 and optional for the  HI 4050, HI 4060, and the HI 3030.

Control of inputs and outputs for the HI 3010 and the HI 3030 can be found in the manuals for the HI 3000 series controllers (which can be downloaded from our web site at www.hardysolutions.com). The HI 4000 series communications information is in the main technical manual for the controller model.  Select the desired controller under the product pull down.  Manuals are under the DOCs and Program selection.

The HI 3000 series controllers can physically have 5 inputs, and 4 or 7 relay outputs available. There is also the DeviceNet port that will enable you to monitor and transfer information into a PLC or use with mapping in the series. The DeviceNet port is limited to 63 devices/nodes.

Using DeviceNet you can expand the capabilities of the series to control an application. You will need to provide a DeviceNet management tool to configure the master and slave relationships, and map the scan list tables.
