What functions can I map on my HI 4000 series?

Last updated 02-02-2018 09:46

Question

What kind of information can I manage through the communication interface networks (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, ControlNet, and RIO) with my HI 4050 or HI 4060? In other words, are all the series functions, configuration and monitoring data available through mapping?

Answer

The intent of the communication interface is to allow all the same functions that are available from the front panel to be duplicated across the networks. (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, ControlNet, and RIO).

Integrated Technician is currently available across communications using the Command Interface. See the attached power point presentation discussing Integrated Technician and communications.  The power point slides are also shown in PDF format.

The following tasks cannot be performed across communications:

  1. Time and date
  2. Change the units' IP address
  3. Reset the unit back to factory default. (EtherNet TCP/IP connection only)

The command interface section of the HI 4050 technical manual chapter 6 describes all the network capabilities. You can download manuals from our web site at www.hardysolutions.com.   Select DOCs & Programs.   There is also a HELP section in the mapping section to help with communications and configuration.

This same document will also work with the HI 4060.  The commands may differ slightly, but the basis is the same. To change ingredients across communications the ingredient name must be a numeric only name. 1-999
