My rate controller front display is difficult to read. Is there an adjustment?

Question

The front display is difficult to read on my HI 2160 or HI 4060 Rate Controller. Is there a brightness adjustment?

Answer

If you look on the panel mount HI 2160RC, on the back top edge of the display card there is a display brightness adjustment potentiometer.  The adjustment access point is through the top chassis cover through a hole covered by a plastic plug. Remove the plug and adjust for best viewing. It is height sensitive, so if you have short and tall operators a compromised height will need to be determined.

Reinstall the plastic plug when complete to protect your HI 2160RC from contamination.

If the display is blank or has dark bars across the screen, search for the Web Tech answer on clearing the HI 2160RC back to factory defaults. You will have to use the internal jumper (jumper ram clear process clears 99% of all display failures).

For the remote mount display the instructions and the adjustment pot is in that same location, but there is no plastic cover plug.  There are not any pictures or instructions in the manual that shows this remote mount display potentiometer adjustment. If you are standing in front of the display, the pot is located on the upper left hand corner on the reverse side.  It is the only adjustment pot on the circuit card.

The HI 4060 display contrast and brightness is controlled from the setup menu and is electronic. Please review the manual for additional information.
