Is a RIO block transfer required to receive every channels data on my HI 3030?

The HI 3030 with the Remote I/O (RIO) option can be configured as a 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or full rack device. This configuration will determine how many words of discrete I/O is available for use. NOTE:  The first byte of the I/O data table is reserved for the block transfer instructions.  So each of the rack sizes is decreased by this one byte.  That then means a 1/4 rack will have 3 bytes of I/O, 1/2 rack has 7 bytes, 3/4 rack has 11 bytes and full rack has 15 bytes.

All configurations of the HI 3030 have 24 words of the table available for block transfers. The data selections from the HI 3030 is then "MAPPED" into the RIO table of the unit (this is done through the browser of the unit). This data can be mapped as Boolean data (bits), Short Int (16 bit integer), Int (32 bit integer), or Float (32 bit float).

The type of data mapped and the form of the data will determine how many bytes or words are needed for the transfer. If the data will "fit" in the I/O locations, then it can be transferred discretely. If it is more data than the discrete I/O available, then it would need to be transferred through a block transfer.
