I installed a Profibus option card and it is not recognized.

A customer has a standard HI4060 Rate Controller.  He ordered a Profibus-DP card and installed it in the unit.   The unit does not identify the Profibus-DP. what can they do?

The Profibus and all the 4000 series I/O cards are plug and play option card.  There is some set up but the menu selections should be populated with that new option. 

In this case you installed the new card and it did not appear in the menu selections.  You may have installed the connecting pin set upside down.  Note, the pins on one end are longer than the other.  The longer pins are installed into the main card.  Shorter pins are inserted into the option card.  

Also be careful with the relay shield/plate installation.  When you are reassembly the unit that plate may knock the I/O ribbon cable out of the socket.

You must always observe proper EDS handling procedures by wearing a grounded wrist strap when installing electronic components and cards.
