How does the tare function work on the HI 3010?

Question

How does the tare function work on the HI 3010?

Answer

The tare function is automatic, if set, and ensures the process always starts at a zero (net) value. Tare is used to adjust for the difference in box/container weights.  Auto zero function zeros the gross weight to account for any spilled material buildup on the scale.

There are points in the process event that automatically tares the scale weight to show a net zero. These points are when the batch is initially activated, and at the start of each cycle. The scale must be out of motion, within the tare parameter tolerance, and the "OK to fill/dispense" enabled. In the start mode and no "OK to fill/dispense" enable the scale can be setup to auto zero the gross weight.

You may use the manual button on the HI 3010 front panel to tare the scale. This would give you a zero weight reading to help verify calibration and the ability to tare.

The tare weight limits should be set to cover the weight of the container, and not tare if there is some material in the box, or the last box has not cleared the scale.
