How do you view multiple 3000 Series units connected via the Ethernet browser?

Last updated 05-05-2014 09:13

Question

If I am connected to the Series 3000 controller (via the Ethernet browser) that is also connected to another Series 3000 via DEVICENET, can I look through the first Series 3000 on my PC to see what's going on in the second Series 3000?

Answer

No, you cannot see the second HI 3000 series unit from the browser in the first HI 3000 series unit.

The HI 3000 series (which includes the HI 3010, and HI 3030) supports limited EtherNet TCP/IP direct peer to peer communications. Inter module data transfer for communications over a shared communications port and feature sharing is possible.  Any addition configuration or control for this process requires an Internet browser to establish communications.

You cannot use the DeviceNet connection to view the second unit online. If you had the 2nd  3000 Series connected over the Ethernet network to the PC using a Ethernet hub or crossover cable, you would select the first or second unit using an Internet Explore browser type software and the correct IP address.

You can map events dependent on a weight or input activity in another HI 3000 using Hardy control link over the EtherNet TCP/IP communications and mapping setup.  You can share communication resources to minimize the number for communication cards. Up to 15 controllers can be interconnected to share a communications card.

This peer to peer communications is not available in the HI4000 series of controllers.
