How do I restore the MAC address?

Last updated 04-21-2014 07:20

Question

While trying to change the IP address using IPsetup.exe I deleted the MAC address and the IP address. Now all zero's are showing and when I try to re-enter the IP address a window pops up saying to first select a NDK in the select a unit list box. But when I try to search the box nothing comes up. How is the correct Mac address and IP address entered when this happens?

Answer

On any Hardy Instruments 3000 Series unit (which included the HI 3010, HI 3030, HI 3300 and the HI 3600), or the HI 4050 or HI 4060 units, using the IP Setup program you cannot delete the MAC address. You can change any of the other settings, but not the MAC address.

If you made any change to your instruments address and it now comes up all zeros and your unit does not appear in the list box, then you may need to cycle power on the unit. After any change to the IP address is made, your instrument will need the power cycled.

When you change your IP address using the IP Setup program you will "lose" the unit because of the change, and will not be able to pick up the new address. This could cause the select box to be empty. After a power cycle, the unit should now show up in the select box and you can edit the address as needed.

If your unit truly lost the MAC address then it would need to be returned to the factory for repair.
